About us...

Learning Journeys

The learning journey is a journal that belongs to you and your child with contributions from parents/carers, children and your child's key person. We would like this journal to include photographs of family, pets, holidays and enjoyable occasions in your child's life.

The journal will also include observations on your child's development and samples of their work.

Your child's learning journey will be available for them to look at through the day and they will also be put in the foyer at the end of each half term for parents to be able to have a look through what their child has been doing at the setting.

When your child finishes pre-school the folder will be given to you and your child.

Daily Routine

  • 9:10- Parents drop off their children and a member off staff will go around doing 'chatterbox' where parents can update the preschool ladies about any new updates (how they have slept, if they haven't had much breakfast or any family news) and then the children will be encouraged to sit down for register and our welcome song.
  • 9:30- outdoor play will open for children to chose if they would like to play indoors or outdoors
  • 10:00-11:00- The snack bar will open for children to come and have something to eat and drink and any small group activities will take place.
  • 11:00- Free play and group dancing or story time before lunch.
  • 12:10- Children get ready for lunch and others get ready to go home.
  • 1:10- After lunch children go home whilst others enjoy free play.
  • 2:00- Outside will be opened up and tidy up time begins.
  • 3:10- Home time!

Fees and Funding

Current fees for 2025-2026

Our hourly rate for all children is £6.00 per hour.

All sessions your child is registered for must be paid for even if your child is unable to attend.

Fees are subject to review annually in September.

Funding

Currently funding is available for all children the term after their third birthday.

The government provides 15 hours funding per week during term time. (FEEE, Leicestershire's Free Early Education Entitlement)

At Long Clawson Pre-School those 15 funded hours are fully offset 15 hours at the pre-school. This means if your child were to attend for the full 15 hours there would be nothing outstanding to pay.

Any additional hours over the 15 will be charged at the current rate stated above.

From September 2014 Leicestershire Early Learning and Childcare Service is also offering funding for children that are two years old.  To find out if you are entitled to this funding please follow the link below.

Children above the age of 3 can sometimes be entitled to 30 hours funding. To find out if you are entitled to this funding please follow the link below.

Early Years Foundation Stage

From September 2021, we are changing the way we observe and track the children at preschool. We have decided as a setting that we will be following the Birth to 5 as we think this is what works the best for everyone involved with the preschool. When your child starts with us, they will get an on entry tracker which will be completed by their key worker, as well as a development flower based on the new Birth to 5. If they start with us from the age of 2, they will also have a 2 year check which will also be filled out by their key worker and a copy will be given out to parents. Children will also get a progress report from their key workers in December and school leavers will be given a transition to school report.
